Willie Otey Kay made Elizabeth White’s debutante dress (left) in 1967 for the North Carolina Debutante Ball. Six years later, Kay altered the dress to become a wedding dress for the bride-to-be. Many years later, in 1995, Elizabeth’s daughter Laura took pieces of her mother’s dress to construct her own debutante dress (right). In 2002, Laura wore the dress to marry Allan Chadwick Hogan.
